Context
Mainstream community, voluntary & third sector organisations are increasingly embracing social enterprise to consolidate & extend their services & operations & strategically positioning themselves to sustain services, operate in & take advantage of the competitive contracts and commissioning culture & processes.
The emergence of social enterprise in the Health & Social Care sector is a growing & important development offering new opportunities within contracts commissioning & funding processes.
However, social enterprise and opportunities associated with it remain untapped by BME community & third sector organisations, with few BME organisations incorporating social enterprises or consortium based approaches as vehicles to secure grants or contracts and to address inequalities in Health & Social Care particularly within BME communities.
Seminar Aims to:
· promote BME awareness of & engagement in social enterprise•
· provide information on opportunities for social enterprise within • health & social care sector
· identify capacity building needs of BME health & social care • providers
· explore potential for diverse BME groups & providers to come • together within partnerships and consortiums & bid for grants and contracts around addressing health inequalities and meeting health & social care needs of BME communities
· improve engagement between NHS, commissioners, allied health • professionals, third sector and BME communities.
