BME Self Directed Care
The introduction of direct payments in 1997 gave people who use social care services the opportunity to control the resources allocated to their support. However, uptake of Direct Payments was variable across local authorities and client groups and remains relatively low.
The Asian Health Agency (TAHA) was established in June 1994 as an independent sector Agency specialising in the provision of support services to Asian communities. TAHA is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee.
TAHA is committed to a holistic approach and operates within a context that validates the concept of different but equal, an anti-racist working framework, empowers our community and provides quality services which respects and reflects our service users' dignity and Asian communities' values.
BME Self Directed Care is an initiative of The Asian Health Agency and is funded by Department of Health Third Sector Investment Programme: Innovation Excellence & Service Development Fund.
